I first became aware that art was something special when I was three years old. While my older brother went off to Saturday morning art classes, I was left , standing on the couch looking out of the window. I knew instinctively, that I was missing out on something special.

I am an expressionist, non-objective painter. My work has always been a vehicle through which I respond to things that move, confront, or amuse me.

I choose my materials and palette and trust that the very act of painting will lead me in the right direction.

While the work is certainly autobiographical in nature, the symbols are often arcane. Materials of graphite, charcoal, paint and plaster are layered, rubbed away, and scratched into, hinting that a deeper meaning lies below the surface.

Recognizing that we all have our own stories , I attempt to find and honor mine, by developing a visual language that brings my stories to a world beyond the canvas. Allowing the viewer to draw their own conclusion yet with some sense of knowing that we have connected.
